COMPARISON

secrets ai vs promptchan

One does companions, the other does images. So why does this comparison exist? Because the line between them is blurring fast.

These two platforms aren’t really direct competitors. Secrets AI is a companion platform — chat, roleplay, persistent relationships. PromptChan AI is an image generator. They serve different use cases, they attract different primary users, and they bill in different ways.

So why compare them?

Because if you spend enough time in the adult AI space, you’ll notice that the lines between categories are actively dissolving. Companion platforms are adding image generation. Image generators are adding chat layers. PromptChan has character features. Secrets AI is adding visual elements. The platforms are all converging toward the same thing: a general-purpose adult AI companion with visual and interactive components.

The actual overlap

The users who end up looking at both of these platforms are typically: people who want an AI companion but care enough about visuals that a purely text-based relationship isn’t satisfying. They want to see their companion, not just chat with them. Or they’re image generation users who’ve realized they want more interactivity with the characters they’re creating.

For the first group, the question is whether Secrets AI’s emerging image features are good enough to keep them on a companion platform, or whether they need to run a second subscription to PromptChan to get the visual quality they’re after.

For the second group, the question is whether PromptChan’s character/chat layer is developed enough to count as a companion experience, or whether it’s just a thin wrapper over image generation with some text filler.

Where they are right now

Secrets AI’s core strength is the relationship layer — memory, personality consistency, the feeling that the companion exists across sessions. The image quality is improving but isn’t the main event.

PromptChan’s core strength is image quality and customization depth. The character interaction is functional but clearly secondary to the generation tooling.

The honest verdict

If images are the primary thing and interactivity is secondary: PromptChan.

If relationship and conversation are the primary thing and visuals are nice-to-have: Secrets AI.

If you want both at a high level simultaneously: you’re probably running two subscriptions, and the combined cost will still undercut what premium companion/image hybrid platforms charge. That might actually be the move — pick the best-in-class for each use case rather than waiting for one platform to solve both.

The convergence is coming, but we’re not there yet.
