PromptChan AI
Strong output quality undermined by an opaque credit system. Three bananas — recommended with reservations.
This review is synthesized from reading across Reddit communities, app review sites, and about a dozen dedicated reviews. I tested the free tier myself. I haven’t paid for the Pro tier — I’m flagging that because it affects how confidently I can speak to the paid experience.
The output quality
It’s good. Better than the competition I’ve read about, which mostly produces the same class of artifacts — bad hands, lighting that doesn’t make physical sense, faces that drift in multi-panel outputs. PromptChan’s output is more consistent. Hands are still a weak point (this is a diffusion model limitation, not a PromptChan-specific one), but the overall quality floor is higher than I expected.
According to multiple reviews I read, the model handles style control well. You can steer toward photorealistic, anime, or illustrated outputs with reasonable reliability. The style consistency across a session is noticeably better than similar tools I’ve seen reviewed.
The credit problem
This is the thing that keeps it at three bananas instead of four.
The free tier gives you enough credits to understand what the product can do. The credit system on paid tiers is where it gets annoying. According to user reports I read — and this pattern is consistent enough that I’m reporting it as a real issue — credits burn faster than the pricing page implies. Image variations, upscaling, and advanced prompts all cost more than the base generation.
I’m calling this “medium confidence” on pricing because I couldn’t find consistent data on exactly how credits map to actual usage at different quality settings. The $9/month entry price is clear; what you get for it is less clear.
Privacy audit
I read through the available privacy documentation and Terms of Service. The short version: data is logged, images you generate are stored on their servers. Their privacy policy includes language about using generated content for model improvement, which is standard for this category but worth knowing. I’m flagging confidence as “low” here because the ToS is vague on specifics and I haven’t done a full legal read.
If you’re generating content you wouldn’t want associated with an account, read the ToS yourself before signing up.
What I’d tell you
If you need a dedicated adult image generator and you’re willing to deal with the credit opacity, this is one of the better options I’ve reviewed. The quality output is real. The credit system is the known frustration.
Try the free tier first. If you burn through the free credits and the output quality satisfied you, the paid tier is probably worth it. If the free tier output disappointed you, more credits won’t fix that.
Three bananas. Recommended with eyes open about the credit system.
